White Bread
Cuisine: American
Serves: 12 servings
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1 cup hot (110 degrees) water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cups flour
  1. Dissolve the yeast in the hot water in a large bowl. Stir in sugar, butter and salt. Add 2 cups of the flour 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Mix in the remaining 1 cup flour with hands. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes. Shape into a loaf. Place in a greased 5x9-inch loaf pan. Let rise, covered with a damp cloth, in a warm place for 30 to 45 minutes or until doubled in bulk.
  2. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes or until brown. Remove to a wire rack to cool.
